Do Transitions®️ work in a car?

Transition lenses are UV ray sensitive, meaning that exposure to UV rays allows the lenses to darken. When in a car, there is less exposure to UV rays since the windshields of most cars block the driver and passengers from UV ray exposure.

Your transition lenses won't darken in a car for this reason and will be most effective while outside or in an environment in which UV rays are not blocked by something else.
