What Types of Progressive Lenses Do You Offer? | Limits & Options

If you need help seeing clearly at multiple distances without the annoying lines of traditional bifocals, we have you covered. Below is a simple breakdown of the types of progressive lenses we custom-craft in our laboratory and the prescription strengths we can accommodate.

Progressive is a Prescribed Vision Type, Not an Upgrade

It is incredibly important to know that progressive lenses are a doctor-prescribed solution for a specific vision condition, not a premium lens add-on (like blue-light blocking or anti-glare coatings) that you can simply choose on a whim.

  • The "ADD" Value is Required: To order progressive lenses, your physical prescription sheet must include a specific medical number labeled ADD (short for "Addition"). This represents the exact magnifying power your doctor has prescribed for your close-up vision.

  • No "ADD" Value on your sheet? If your doctor did not write an ADD value on your paperwork, you do not need multifocal lenses and should select Single-Vision instead. Our laboratory cannot manufacture progressive lenses without this exact medical number.

What are progressive lenses?

Progressive lenses (often called "no-line bifocals") feature multiple focal points blended seamlessly together. This allows you to look through different parts of the same lens to see far away, up close, and everywhere in between - all without a visible line cutting across your glasses.

To ensure the highest visual clarity and a smooth transition, all of our progressive lenses are digitally surfaced.

Our Pairfect™ Progressive Options

We offer two premium types of progressive designs under our Pairfect™ line, tailored to how you spend your day:

  • Standard Progressive Lenses: Engineered for everyday, all-around use. These lenses cover all three essential vision zones: Distance (for driving or watching TV), Intermediate (arm's-length viewing, like your car dashboard), and Near (for close-up reading).

  • Progressive Office Lenses: Specialized lenses optimized specifically for workplace or desk environments. These focus heavily on expanding your Intermediate (computer screen) and Near (reading/desk paperwork) viewing fields for ultimate comfort during long work hours.

⚠️ Important Safety Warning for Office Lenses: Because Office Lenses are strictly customized for computer and desk distances, they do not have a far-distance zone. They are not safe or recommended for driving or walking around outside.

Maximum Magnification & Prescription Limits

When your eye doctor writes a multifocal prescription, the strength of your reading magnification is listed as the ADD value (or "Addition").

Because progressive and bifocal lenses require specialized engineering, our optical laboratory has specific manufacturing limits for how high this magnification can go:

  • Progressive Lenses (No-Line): We can fill a maximum ADD value of up to +4.00.

  • Traditional Bifocal Lenses (With Lines): We can fill an ADD value between +3.00 to +3.50.
