Choosing Your Lens Type | Clear, Blue Light, Sunglasses & Transitions
Once you have picked your lens thickness package, the next step in our checkout funnel is selecting your Lens Type. This step determines how your lenses behave in different lighting conditions, whether you're working behind a computer screen all day, walking in the bright sun, or driving.
1. Clear Lenses
These are your traditional, transparent lenses designed for everyday use. If you primarily wear your glasses indoors, don't spend long hours staring at digital screens, and want a simple, un-tinted pair of glasses, this is your go-to option.
2. Blue Light Lenses
Designed specifically for the digital age, these lenses feature a built-in filter harmful high-energy blue light emitted by computer screens, laptops, tablets, smartphones, and harsh indoor fluorescent lighting.
Who it’s for: Ideal for office workers, students, gamers, or anyone experiencing digital eye strain, blurry screen-vision, or headaches from long hours of screen time.
The Look: They look completely clear to the naked eye with a subtle, virtually unnoticeable protective filter.
3. Transitions / Photochromic (Light-Adaptive Lenses)
These are high-tech, smart lenses that stay completely clear indoors but automatically darken into protective sunglasses when you step outside into sunlight. When you choose this track, you have access to both premium name-brand options and our high-value house brand:
- Transitions® Gen S™: The absolute leading brand in light-adaptive technology. They adapt rapidly to changing light environments and come in 8 vibrant colors (including Gray, Blue, Brown, and Purple) to match your frame style.
Transitions® XTRActive®: Specifically engineered to go extra-dark outdoors, even in intense heat. Crucially, they also darken slightly behind the windshield of a car to protect your eyes while driving (standard Transitions do not activate well inside cars).
Transitions® XTRActive® Polarized™: The ultimate outdoor option. They turn extra-dark and activate dynamic polarization in bright sunlight, cutting harsh blinding reflections off water, snow, and roads.
Photochromic (Our House Brand): Our high-value, wallet-friendly alternative adaptive lens. It delivers dependable indoor-to-outdoor light transition in classic Gray or Brown tints.
4. Prescription Sunglasses
If you want a dedicated pair of glasses strictly for outdoor use and driving in bright conditions, this is your category. All of our sunglasses options automatically block between 98% to 99% of harmful UVA and UVB rays to keep your eyes safe from sun damage.
When customizing your sunglasses, you can choose between four unique sun-lens options:
Colorized (Included): Your classic sun tint providing high-level clarity and visual comfort.
Basic Tint: Automatically set to a comfortable 75% darkness level.
Personalized Darkness: Allows you to use a custom slider to pick your exact darkness level.
Gradient: A fashionable look where the lens is darkest at the top (80% dark) to block overhead sun and gradually fades to a lighter tint at the bottom (30% dark) for easy reading.
Polarized: The gold standard for outdoor vision. Polarized lenses feature a special filter that blocks blinding horizontal glare (like sunlight bouncing off the hood of your car, wet roads, or water). Combined with our 99% UV protection, this gives you the ultimate ray protection, deep contrast, and crystal-clear vision.
Mirrored: Blocks intense glare and UV rays while adding a highly fashionable, reflective flash coating to the front of the lenses. Available in multiple bold, reflective colors.
Transitions® Drivewear®: The ultimate specialized driving lens. It is a light-adaptive and polarized lens all in one. It changes color and darkness depending on the weather conditions outside and behind your car windshield (shifting from a lighter green-amber tint in overcast weather to a deep copper/dark brown in bright sunlight) to deliver the perfect contrast for the road.
